On June 19, 2018, Ryan O'Shea's Future Grind podcast published episode 23, "Implanted Identity," sixty-six minutes that worked through more or less the entire state of the implant world as it stood that year.
The chapter list reads like a syllabus: Kevin Warwick and the earlier human experiments, the story of Dangerous Things, the creation and manufacturing of the xNT, the FDA and the VeriChip, MRI compatibility, viruses and security, moving from glass capsules to flexible biopolymers, magnet implants, and the battery problem that haunts every powered-implant dream. In the middle of it sits the segment the title came from: solving the identity problem with VivoKey, which the show notes said "could change everything." O'Shea's introduction also gave me one of the tidier one-line bios of the era: "an early pioneer of RFID implants and the author of RFID Toys."
The show notes carried Future Grind's standing disclaimer that "biohacking is dangerous and things can go wrong," advising against self-surgery and for consulting a trained medical doctor first. No argument from me on any of it.
