In 2009 I appeared, jointly credited with Katina Michael, as the author pair on a book chapter: "Interview 14.2: The Do-It-Yourselfer RFID Implantee," published in Innovative Automatic Identification and Location-Based Services: From Bar Codes to Chip Implants (Information Science Reference / IGI Global, 2009, pp. 427–449), a volume edited by Katina Michael and M. G. Michael.
The chapter grew out of an interview Katina Michael conducted with me on May 25, 2007, in Bellingham, Washington. By then I had a glass-encased RFID tag in each hand and a Wiley book on the subject, and academic researchers were beginning to take the do-it-yourself implantee seriously as something to document rather than dismiss. Reworked into transcript form and slotted in as "Interview 14.2," it stands as one of the earliest pieces of formal academic literature to treat the hobbyist implantee as a subject in his own right.
