On August 15, 2016, I turned up as the first-ever special guest on the THINKING Podcast: episode six of the show from Geoffrey Woo and Michael Brandt, founders of the nootropics company Nootrobox. Their episode notes promised "intellectual conversations that will make you THINK," capitalization theirs.

Michael and I spent a bit over half an hour on human implants, and on the case for normalizing them, which is where the privacy question inevitably lives. The episode title, "Implants and Privacy," tells you which way the conversation leaned.

I liked the pairing. The nootropics crowd and the implant crowd are adjacent branches of the same tree. Their notes put biohacking, nootropics, and human performance optimization on one rising curve, and I have spent years arguing the hardware belongs on that curve too. It was also a milestone of sorts for the show itself: five episodes of the two founders talking to each other, and then me.
